Friends! December is my favorite month. Not only is Christmas, my favorite holiday, but my birthday is just a week before Christmas. My son shares the same birth month, too, so it’s full-on celebration mood in our home every December.
I love decorating for the holidays and this year I kept things simple with our holiday decorating style. I’m going for a minimalist Christmas style and had been pinning a lot of inspiration to gather ideas for this year. I pulled out our Christmas decorations early, and since I made the time to organize our decorations as we packed them up last year, it was easier to find the items I wanted to use this year.

Minimalist Christmas Decor
I added a touch of Christmas decor to each room, which I planned on doing last year but didn’t get around to. This year, by carving out a few days, I was able to complete our Christmas decorations in the master bedroom, living room, kitchen and entryway. I kept the decorations at a minimum – I appreciate the “beauty in less” and incorporated a lot of greenery this year. I love it so much and it makes the home feel festive.
WELCOME!

Every year, I grow my faux greenery collection. Quality faux greenery can get expensive, so planning to get extras every year is totally worth it. See some of my favorites!

This time around, I’m trying out fresh cedar greenery and I’ve decorated our stair railing and other areas of our home with it. I’m nervous about how I will keep them, staying beautiful for a long time. Do you use fresh greenery in your home? You can find instructions on how to preserve them longer here! I followed these instructions myself.

As we enter into this festive season, I’m excited to share our minimalist Christmas home tour with you!

Every year, I change things up with our holiday theme. Last year, it was all winter wonderland, neutrals, creams, whites and a touch of black and white plaid. This year I’m styling the home with simplicity in mind.

Holiday Decorating – My Christmas Tree

Our faux Christmas tree is sparse and slender because our living room does not have a lot of big open spaces to accommodate a full Christmas tree. I found this beauty at the Terrain and immediately fell in love. Because it is sparse, it shows off our ornaments nicely. I added two smaller Christmas trees to create a full impact in the space.

Tip: If you have little ones, get a smaller Christmas tree for them so they don’t bring down the adult Christmas tree. The kids will love that they have a special tree of their own.

Along with a minimalist Christmas home decor scheme, the gifts are wrapped with natural, neutral and simple sheets of gift wrap. I love using kraft wrapping paper in colors like white, black and brown. They are cost-effective, eco-friendly and versatile as you can add personal touches on them. The gifts are styled with greenery, twine, ribbons and wood-like decor items for a festive look.

To save some cost on holiday home decor, I love to hand make Christmas decorations. I made these wood beads, which I incorporated into the Christmas tree.

The Kitchen

In the kitchen, I styled the range hood with a simple faux cedar garland and added a stem of faux juniper in the utensil bowl.

On the kitchen island, I styled the countertop with mini Christmas trees in different heights, and my favorite – I used fairy lights to add in a warm Christmas glow around the cooktop.

I made this minimalistic greenery wreath with gold bells and hung it on our kitchen window to dress up the window. I use this simple wreath every year during the holiday season.

Can you have too many Christmas trees in your home? Nope! A simple non-light Christmas is one of my favorite holiday home decor.
