Say goodbye to the August heat waves and hello to autumn!
I can’t believe we’re already in the last quarter of this year and at the start of the fall season. In Texas, this means the weather starts to get cooler…temps go from the 100s to the 80s.
This is one of my favorite seasons, though – the weather feels like springtime. We get to enjoy the outdoors during this reprieve from the heatwave but before the chill of winter arrives. We are also looking forward to all the seasonal events that occur at this time of the year. How about you?
If you are like me, you’ve probably started thinking about how to decorate for the fall season or even for Christmas. Or is it too early for Christmas thoughts?

As we transition into autumn, we start to refresh our home spaces, focusing on creating a warm and cozy feel. We also start to get into the holiday spirit, although not usually until Halloween is over. We know that orange is typically the color used for decorating for fall, whether for Halloween or just for the season itself, but who says we can’t use other colors?
Home decor for fall embraces a mixture of textures, neutrals, rich tones, and even patterns. In the spirit of shopping for the season, I have rounded up the top five fall home trends for this year.
Layers and Textures
Layering home accessories such as pillows and rugs adds interest, depth and warmth to any space. The contrasting textures when layering home elements make a home space cozy and complete. This is one of my favorite home trends as it showcases the contrast between similar and different elements, embracing imperfection but still cohesive.
Neutrals and Wood Tones
Not a fan of color, or want to keep a minimalist scheme in your home? Use a mixture of neutrals and wood tones. This neutral combination creates an organic and less planned space, conveying an airy, effortless feeling.
Metallic and Jewel Tones
Sticking with neutral colors is safe during the fall season but pops of color and metallics capture the fun and festive spirit of the season. These options lend a sophisticated and glamorous look for the holidays.
All Greenery
Don’t you love it when you can bring the outdoors inside? I do! Branches and leaves add interest in a home space. I suggest arranging them in vases of different heights to add interest and depth to your space.
Accent With Black Furniture
Black accents have been a rising trend for all seasons and this includes furniture. Black accent furniture portrays a modern, clean look, and plays perfectly with home decor for fall when layered with a texture, such as a cozy blanket or rug.

I’d love to know what you think about these fall home trends and if you are already using them in your home. Until next time, have fun styling your home for the season and remember to let your personality shine as you decorate your home.
